How Can We Help?

This topic describes you, how to create a Service for the first time in the Control Center. You can also find information about the Service post creation. Alternatively, you can use the Service API to create the required service.

What’s a Service?

Services are logical entity, Service represents multiple homogeneous component instances and its host instances.

 

Prerequisites

Administrator users can create and manage Services from the Control Center. Service creation requires you to provide minimum one Component Instance and its underlying host information.

  1. Control Center URL is accessible.
  2. Valid administrator credentials are available.

 

Add Service

All the information to be provided in the Add Service Wizard are mandatory. Follow the steps to add a Service

1. Log in to HEAL Control Center with valid login credentials.

2. Click on the Setup tab. The ‘Topology’ option is selected by default.

3. Click the Services button to add a service on the Setup Services page.

4. “Add Service” pop-up page is displayed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. Fill in the following details and click ‘Save’.

  • Name: Enter name of the service.
  • Identifier: Enter unique identifier for a service.
  • Application(s): Tag the application(s) to the service.
  • Layer: Select the layer for the service.
  • Timezone: Select the time zone for the service.
  • Mark as Entry Point: You can mark the service as entry point. Turn ON the toggle for the same.

6. Navigate to the Service Dependency Map page and click the ‘Component Instances’ button.

7. Click Add to create a new component instance, and fill in the following details.

  • Instance Name: Unique and meaningful name for the Component instance.
  • Component Type: Select the type of component.
  • Component Version: Select the version of the component.
  • Application: Select the application to which the component belongs.
  • Services: Select the service provided by the component.
  • Environment: Select the environment.

8. Click on the Save button.

9. Add Service pop-up is closed & Setup Service page is displayed.

Add Multiple Instance

During the Service creation to add more instances post adding the first instance, follow the below steps.

Case 1: To add multiple instances deployed on different Hosts.

  1. Click the ‘Add instances’ button
  2. Provide the following details
    1. Component Instance Name and select its version.
    2. Host instance Name.
    3. Host Address
  3. Repeat Step #1 & #2, until the required instances are added.
  4. Click on the Save button to add the Service.

Case 2: To add multiple instance deployed on same Host.

  1. Click on the Copy button on the instance already created
  2. Duplicate row appears
    1. Component Instance Name will be blank and you need to provide a name.
    2. The details of Version, Host Name, Host Address, OS Type and OS Version will be auto populated with the same values as the parent row where the Copy button was clicked

Setup Service

Setup Service page will display the details about the Services created as follows

 

Refer Manage Component Instance to update and mange the Component & Host instance details for a service.
